Britney Spears has left the building! Britney was in court for a “progress review” today. She was accompanied by her mom, dad and super lawyer Blair Berk.
Mark Vincent Kaplan just addressed the media. He said:
"The order has remained in place. No change in custody today. It’s a cautious step going forward, we are pleased with the progress...It’s a step in the right direction.
"The children are doing great. Kevin’s goal and his hope is that his children will have the benefit of having two parents who are participating actively in their lives. When that’ll occur, I can’t tell you that. We can only take it one step at a time." The custody case has not been changed but Britney has been given more time with her two boys. There are talks that Britney has been granted 3 days with her boys and that she will probably regain 50/50 custody by summertime, that's if she continues to behave normally.

Tulip Joshi in Black

What’s up with Tulip Joshi?
The lady is often seen these days sporting black dresses. Recently we spotted her making appearances in those little black dresses and we must say it sent the temperatures soaring. She made that particular appearance at Parties showing ample of cleava9e and enough of her well-toned $exy legs. No, her boyfriend isn’t possessive, in-fact we are told he likes to see her dressed like this. "He is totally chilled out," laughs the actress when quizzed about her beau not getting worked up. As for the dresses, once worn, Tulip makes sure she gives it to the right person who will make good use of it. We wonder what’s with her obsession for black.

The forbidden kingdom
An American teenager who is obsessed with Hong Kong cinema and kung-fu classics makes an extraordinary discovery in a Chinatown pawnshop: the legendary stick weapon of the Chinese sage and warrior, the Monkey King. With the lost relic in hand, the teenager unexpectedly finds himself traveling back to ancient China to join a crew of warriors from martial arts lore on a dangerous quest to free the imprisoned Monkey King. Directed by Rob Minkoff (STUART LITTLE, THE LION KING), the film marks the first-ever onscreen pairing of martial arts superstars Jackie Chan (RUSH HOUR, DRUNKEN MASTER) and Jet Li (FEARLESS, ONCE UPON A TIME IN CHINA). The original screenplay by John Fusco (YOUNG GUNS, HIDALGO) is based on the traditional Chinese legend of the Monkey King. The film is produced by Casey Silver (LADDER 49, HIDALGO, the upcoming LEATHERHEADS) of Casey Silver Productions. Renowned action choreographer Wo Ping (THE MATRIX, CROUCHING TIGER HIDDEN DRAGON) is creating the fight sequences, and the director of photography is Peter Pau (CROUCHING TIGER HIDDEN DRAGON).
A Caribbean wedding for Drew?
Drew Barrymore and actor Justin Long are reportedly making plans to get married in the Caribbean later this year.
The two, who had recently topped a poll of Hollywood lovebirds, were said to have been overheard plotting the ceremony over a recent lunch date, an intimate affair involving only close friends and family members.
The pair recently cooed about the romance on Oprah’s TV talk show. “I’ve found a best friend, it’s the best. This relationship is great; it’s healthy and it’s productive and it’s supportive and it’s full of humour,” a website quoted the twice married and twice divorced Barrymore as saying.
“All our friends get along great, which is awesome because we travel together in packs. We’re having an excellent time,” she added.
“She smells great... she’s the most compassionate person I’ve ever met,” was Long’s comment. An eavesdropper told a British daily that Long and Barrymore drew up a wish list of exotic resorts at Hollywood’s Chateau Marmont.
Kylie set to play a geisha
With her elegant kimono, bird’s nest hairstyle and porcelain-pale complexion, this lady is classic geisha material.
But underneath the white foundation and heavy eyeliner, is Kylie Minogue experimenting with her latest look?
The singer, known for her stunning costume choices, looks breathtaking in a red kimono as she poses as a geisha in a shoot to promote her forthcoming world tour.
The tour begins in Paris on May 6 and will reportedly cost more than £10 million. It includes shows in Greece, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey, Luxembourg, Russia, Latvia and Spain, and has already taken over half a million in sales.
KylieX2008 is Minogue’s first major tour since her battle with breast cancer. Meanwhile, Kylie is said to have abandoned plans to capture the American audience after her latest attempt failed.
She reportedly told a friend, “I gave it my best shot. I won’t try again.” Kylie appeared on numerous US shows to promote her album. But despite her attempts, the record sold only 6,000 copies and debuted at number 139 on the US Billboard charts.
US eats 5 times more than India per capita
Even as the world spins into a global food crisis, a popular theory — voiced by the likes of US President George W Bush and secretary of state Condoleezza Rice — is that the Chinese and Indians are responsible. The 'logic': due to zooming incomes, they are eating more, causing worldwide shortages. But is that true? ( Watch )
Due to their huge populations, countries like India and China may appear to consume gigantic amounts of food. But the real elephant in the room that nobody is willing to talk about is how much each person gets to eat. And the answer will shock many.
Total foodgrain consumption — wheat, rice, and all coarse grains like rye, barley etc — by each person in the US is over five times that of an Indian, according to figures released by the US Department of Agriculture for 2007.
Each Indian gets to eat about 178 kg of grain in a year, while a US citizen consumes 1,046 kg.
In per capita terms, US grain consumption is twice that of the European Union and thrice that of China. Grain consumption includes flour and by conversion to alcohol.
In fact, per capita grain consumption has increased in the US — so actually the Americans are eating more. In 2003, US per capita grain consumption was 946 kg per year which increased to 1046 kg last year.
By way of comparison, India’s per capita grain consumption has remained static over the same period. It’s not just grains. Milk consumption, in fluid form, is 78 kg per year for each person in the US, compared to 36 kg in India and 11 kg in China.
Vegetable oils consumption per person is 41 kg per year in US, while Indians are making do with just 11 kg per year. These are figures for liquid milk, not for cheese, butter, yogurt and milk powders which are consumed in huge proportion in the more advanced countries.
A significant proportion of India’s population is vegetarian, and so, this is all the food that they get, apart from vegetables and pulses. But the source of carbohydrates and fats is mainly derived from food grains and oils.
As far as meat consumption is concerned, the US leads the world in per capita consumption by a wide margin. Beef consumption, for example, is 42.6 kg per person per year, compared to a mere 1.6 kg in India and 5.9 kg in China. In case you are thinking that perhaps Indians might be going in for chicken, think again. In the US, 45.4 kg poultry meat is consumed every year by each person, compared to just 1.9 kg in India.
Pork consumption is negligible in India, while it is a major item elsewhere. In the European Union, 42.6 kg pork is consumed per person every year, while in the US, 29.7 kgs are consumed. Pork is a staple for Chinese, and so over 35 kg are consumed per person per year. And, we are not talking about various other types of meat, like turkey.
All these comparisons are for powerful economies, whether of the west or the east.
But the story would not be complete without mentioning the plight of Africa, where foodgrain consumption in 2007 was a mere 162 kg per year for each person, or about 445 grams per day. Don’t forget they are not getting any meat or milk products out there.
Perhaps, it is time to include the lifestyle choices of the West in the whole feverish debate on how to tackle the global food crisis.
These figures are collated by the US Department of Agriculture. US per capita grain consumption rose from 946 kg in 2003 to 1046 kg last year. India’s per capita consumption remained static in this period.

Victoria Beckham hates being compared to Paris Hilton
Victoria Beckham hates being compared to Paris Hilton — because she wants to be taken seriously in America.
The former Spice Girl — who moved to Los Angeles with her soccer star husband David Beckham last year — is fed up with being known as a footballer’s wife and being offered the same work as the 27-year-old socialite.
A source close to Victoria said: “She can’t bear being known as someone’s wife and she hates the WAG label. She’s getting offered the same TV work as Paris Hilton when she wants to be on a level with her pal Kate Beckinsale - but she just isn’t an actress.
“Posh doesn’t feel she’s seen as a credible fashion icon yet. She’s also disappointed that the TV work she is offered is always to play herself or someone similar to herself.”
Victoria, who recently celebrated her 34th birthday, is also said to be distraught about getting older and has banned friends from mentioning her birthday.
One pal said: “She’s caught in a relentless, endless loop to try and be this perfect woman. It’s destructive and it doesn’t make her any happier.”
Kim Cattrall's Sex denial
Kim Cattrall has denied she only starred in 'Sex and the City: The Movie' for the money.
The actress - who stars as PR executive Samantha Jones in the hit US TV show and upcoming movie - reportedly turned down the movie because the money wasn't good enough, but Kim says that wasn't the real reason.
She said: "I think, looking back four years ago when we were first discussing a movie, it was a really tough time for me in my personal life. I was going through a divorce and my job of seven years was coming to an end.
"Then my dad was diagnosed with dementia which was the toughest thing of all, and we had to put him in a home. I returned to Canada where my family is - that's really the reason behind it. It wasn't all about the money."
Kim's co-star Sarah Jessica Parker has defended the actress, insisting she was entitled to consider money before agreeing to the movie.
She said: "I heard a number of differing stories, but I never interrogated Kim. At the beginning I thought it was about money. She had mentioned money a bunch of times and nobody should vilify her for that. I think people made a decision that we had vilified her and I think that was very unfair.
"She's talked publicly about the money being an issue and I think she has every right to do that. But the best thing that came out of it is that we are doing this film now and I think we get to tell a much better story by waiting a few years. This was the right time."
Wild Amy Winehouse could face arrest after 'attack on TWO men' while out on all-night bender
Grammy award-winning singer Amy Winehouse could be facing arrest and a possible six month jail sentence after she allegedly attacked TWO men while on a drug-fuelled bender.
The drug addict singer, 24, faces a police quiz after claims she 'headbutted' a man who was trying to help the singer get a cab outside a bar, and then was said to have allegedly punched a second victim in the face.
According to the Sun, a source said the singer also kissed a mystery man at a nightspot, and in one bar threw drinks around and overturned tables while she screamed 'I am a legend...I want to take drugs'.
It is also claimed she was later seen smoking drugs in the street and angered a taxi driver by paying only half her promised fare home.
The night degenerated after Amy arrived at The Good Mixer in Camden, north London with Mik Whitnall, guitarist in Pete Doherty's group Babyshambles, after spending the day drinking at her home, she visited a friend's flat where she acquired a change of vests before heading for a nightclub.
It was 8.30 on Tuesday night when Miss Winehouse left her flat in Camden, North London, wearing tight denims and a black string vest. She headed for a nearby pub frequented by musician friends.
The 27-year-old Moroccan musician said: "I feel so angry. She smashed my face hard. I could not hit back- she's a woman."
It was a new low for Amy who was reportedly high on Class A drugs, and was seen in the streets of Camden looking wild-eyed, confused and unsteady on her feet following a six-hour pub crawl.
After playing pool, Amy returned to her flat, but emerged to visit nearby Bar Tok at 2am.
A source told The Sun: "She was off her face, throwing drinks around and turning over tables.
"Amy screamed, 'I am a legend, get these people out. I want to take drugs."
The dishevelled and thin star then reportedly kissed her mystery friend before leaving at 2.45am.
A good samaritan then tried to get her a cab, but she reportedly thought he was trying to molest her and allegedly headbutted him in the face.
The alleged victim went to police yesterday and reported his claim, sparking the police probe. Sources told The Sun that Amy will be arrested.
If convicted of assault, she could face up to six months' jail and a £2,000 fine.
After arriving home at 4am Amy then had to break into her own home in the early hours yesterday after losing her keys.
Her state is now such that she is being accused of shaming her husband - who is in prison awaiting trial on charges of assault and conspiring to pervert the course of justice
Nicole Richie spices up her life
To spice up her relationship with Joel Madden, she has ordered dozens of sexy underwear sets. The Simple Life actress, who gave birth to the couple’s first child Harlow Winter, has stocked her wardrobe with lacy lingerie.
A source said: “They are thrilled to be parents but things have turned less romantic between them. Before Joel went on tour with his band Good Charlotte they were exhausted from sleep deprivation, which killed any sexual desire. Nicole has picked up a lot of very feminine, soft-pink items. She has stocked her lingerie drawer with hot little lacy things.”
The 26-year-old socialite has also given their bedroom a sexy makeover and removed all of Harlow’s blankets and toys. The source added, “Now their bedroom looks like only adults live in it. Nicole added a silk throw to the bed and put little lamps with amber shades here and there to create a warmer feeling. It is really intimate. Keeping things sexy is one of her biggest goals. She wants to get him alone and lock the door for a few days!”
Lisa Rinna Sounds Off on Hollywood's Beauty Obsession
The newly crowned queen of the red carpet — her first foray into awards-show interviewing for the TV Guide Network, at last year's Emmys, was a grand success — is no stranger to the demands of being a star. She gives her take on our Body Talk special series by telling TVGuide.com what she thinks of the J. Love bikini pics, why it's tougher being a young star now than ever before and what she really thinks of plastic surgery.
TVGuide.com: Do you think there's too much pressure on stars to look a certain way?
Lisa Rinna: There is an absolute pressure; the way the Internet is now, with YouTube and the fact that everywhere you go, there are video cameras... no matter what, you're going to get it. I think there's more pressure than there's ever been in keeping your nose clean and going about your business in a way that is attractive. Especially for those young girls who [the cameras] follow all the time so they can't even make a wrong turn. It is really an awful time to be a celebrity; 20 years ago, when Harry [Hamlin, Rinna's husband] was doing L.A. Law, people just didn't care as much. Now there's such a focus on them; it's tough.
TVGuide.com: What did you think of the Jennifer Love Hewitt bikini story, and about her reaction?
Rinna: It's so unfortunate that TMZ would take a shot of her like that and put it on the website and say what they did. It's plain old mean-spirited. I mean, if they shot any of our asses up close with a telephoto lens, who knows what they would look like! My feeling is, if they were to do that and just write positive things, wouldn't that be nice? But I guess I'm living in a dream world. I just think it's mean. How would you feel? It's like, "Could we just completely ruin her life?" Just imagine how she felt. I think she was very brave and courageous to come out and say what she did. But I still think, as I do with the Tyra Banks [bathing suit] situation, that it has to hurt your feelings, to have someone go, "Oh, you're fat, you're this, you're that." I mean, shut up! If you're going to take pictures, at least do these girls a favor and don't print a picture that's really gross. It's been done to me before and it doesn't feel good.
TVGuide.com: There have also been a few young stars in the past couple of years who are looking dangerously thin.
Rinna: And now don't we know why — everyone's like, "Oh, my gosh, how could they be going through this?" Well, hello, when we totally rip somebody apart who's a normal size and plaster her butt for the world to see.... Of course these girls have eating disorders. We've all created it. It makes perfect sense. It's a vicious cycle, and it's too bad.
TVGuide.com: Do stars feel they have to lose their pregnancy weight immediately after having a child?
Rinna: I felt the pressure, absolutely, for both children. If you're in this business, unfortunately, because of the scrutiny [you can't avoid it]. Now it's even worse than when I had my girls, nine and six years ago. You can't even have an ounce of fat on you without someone calling you fat. The irony is, if they call Jennifer Love Hewitt fat, then come on....
TVGuide.com: So what about aging? Are older actresses unfairly excluded for roles unless they manage to stay young-looking?
Rinna: It's a proven fact, a well-known fact. Maybe that's just the way this business is and if we can just gracefully accept that and move on and do other things in our lives, that's the way to look at it. It's not a business for older people so much.
TVGuide.com: Do men in Hollywood face the same pressures as women?
Rinna: They do, but men are much more accepted, because when men age they're more "distinguished-looking." [Laughs] It's a little tiny bit easier, but I think they face the same issues. In this world, you have to be young, gorgeous and thin. And once that stops, you have to reinvent yourself. It can't be about your looks after a while, because they're going to go. I see myself working in this business for a long, long time. Having clothing stores all over the country [there are two branches of her Belle Gray store in Southern California] and being able to sell things on QVC or whatever. We're opening in Vegas, so hopefully that'll be our branching out into other parts of the country. I think you can become a Suzanne Somers-type businesswoman and make hundreds of millions of dollars without necessarily acting any more.
TVGuide.com: As for plastic surgery... is it pretty much assumed that women in Hollywood will get certain things done?
Rinna: You have to if you're going to work in this business for a certain amount of time; you just don't see older women with a bunch of wrinkles on television. It's not aesthetically as attractive to look at. If you don't fit the norm, you're not going to work. If you want to work, unfortunately, that's part of the program. It's like, do we sign up for the paparazzi or people to follow us and take pictures of us? No, but guess what? That's part of the gig. Whatever you want to do personally is absolutely 100 percent what you should do. But if I'm really honest, if you want to work in this town in your fifties, people have plastic surgery, that's what they do!
TVGuide.com: What about those younger women who think it's necessary in order to get ahead?
Rinna: I think that is a little much; it would be better if they didn't have to do that. [Although] some young people who have had plastic surgery look great; it's helped their self-esteem. It's transformed them. I think it's great that Ashley Tisdale came clean with it — she just said, "Look, I had a nose job; I had a deviated septum, I feel good about it.... " What's smart about that is, now no one can say anything. I think it's all a personal thing.
Rinna: I think regular people are [having plastic surgery] as much as or more than celebrities. When I go to my dermatologist's office, I don't see any celebrities in there; I see all regular people, and it's packed. I think the celebrities and the magazines have helped create it, but now it's a big business. I wish I was a plastic surgeon or a dermatologist in this town! You can stave off plastic surgery for a long, long time now by having really good skin. You don't have to get a face-lift — I like to say I just like to keep myself looking fresh! I like to look good for my husband more than I do for my work. You have to really stay on your toes if you're going to be married to somebody for a long time. There are many things you can do, dress-wise, makeup-wise, to keep yourself looking fresh. It doesn't have to be plastic surgery. It's a mind-set.

Britney to see children on Mother's Day
Britney Spears has been given the perfect US Mother's Day gift - a day with her kids.
Thanks to continued improvements in the pop star's relationship with ex-husband Kevin Federline, the rapper/dancer has agreed to let Sean Preston and Jayden James spend May 11 with their mother.
Federline was given full custody of the kids after Spears staged a stand-off with police, emergency services officials and childcare experts when she refused to hand over her sons after a scheduled visitation in January.
The couple have been battling the custody order ever since, but now Federline appears to have cooled on the issue - and he has agreeing to let Spears spend more time with their sons.
A family friend tells Life & Style magazine that Federline is considering granting his ex overnight visits with the kids, after Spears filed a formal request with the courts.
The insider said: "He hasn't said yes yet, but he's considering it."
Whereas Federline once reportedly dreaded phone chats with his ex, sources claim the couple has become friendly, with the rapper calling her his "lady" and Spears ending calls by telling her former husband that she loves him.

Harry Potter goes to school

Kids in UK can now look forward to studying something besides Shakespeare and Dickens in school. For they will soon have the adventures of Harry Potter and his friends to shift through. However the decision to add Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone from J K Rowling's best selling series to the A-level English syllabus has caused a bit of a row in the country with experts saying the move will "dumb" down exams.
From next year onwards, school kids have to pen a 15,00-word essay comparing Rowling and another writer,as well as an 800-word story inspired by the book.
Professor Alan Smithers,of the Centre of Education Research, was not impressed with the move."I don't think Harry Potter is appropriate. It may be enjoyable, but I don't think we are just trying to keep people occupied" The Sun quoted him as saying.
Added Nick Seaton,of the Campaign for Real Education,"Children should be encouraged to read the great works of literature.Harry Potter may be what they want to read, but that doesn't mean it should be a part of an A-level."
However, the AQA,which sets half the UK's exams, defends its move saying,"Harry Potter is a genuine example of literature of our time.It deserves its place in this unit."
